The bedroom is created in a thousand-year-old cave with a rock that seems to have a life of its own, large and comfortable, a primitive place, transformed into a luxury structure with an ancient and romantic flavor but with a return to the origins. the whole structure offers an intimate atmosphere in which the past seems to come back to life. among the furnishing items are jewelery and objects from the renovation and from a careful search for hosts around Sicily. Past and present are harmoniously intertwined between the history of the place and modern comforts. The greatest enchantment will be that of having an emotional experience inside a truly one-of-a-kind bathroom. When you enter, forget about straight and smooth walls, closures and orderly geometries, as you will find irregular walls and ceilings dug into the rock that integrate with the masonry walls creating a pleasant play of textures and overlaps.
The structure is located in the historic center of Modica, a medieval neighborhood, close to the ancient Jewish neighborhood of Cartellone, one of the most intricate and evocative of the urban fabric of the city. Reachable from Cso Umberto via a staircase of 100 steps, as can be seen from the name of the structure, a walk along the wonderful ancient alleys and the museum district of the centre, therefore not recommended for those with walking problems. It is also possible to arrive from the upper part, where the convent of S. Anna is located, today the Ente Liceo Convitto, founded in 1639, to which the small church dedicated to S. Calogero is annexed, exactly from here, the staircase goes down up to the structure. Late Baroque is the predominant style in the architecture of historic buildings and churches. Most of the valuable buildings were rebuilt after the terrible earthquake that struck eastern Sicily in 1693.
